Session: “Im in ur codez” or Securing Mobile Apps

Presenter: Nick Shearer, Mobile Interactive Group
Time: 12:30 – 13:30, Saturday 1 October

Over the past year several large, respected companies have suffered from embarrassing security flaws in their mobile apps. Apps are a major vector for attack, but developers frequently overlook simple strategies that could help protect their products and clients – and if your business is apps, you simply can’t afford not to be secure.

But don’t despair! In this session we’ll be looking at some well-known vulnerabilities, and what you can do to protect against them. We’ll also look at some more creative and esoteric ways to ‘persuade’ apps to give up their secrets to a ne’er-do-well, complete with live demonstrations.

Nick is the Lead Application Developer at Mobile Interactive Group, Europe’s fastest growing privately owned tech company. He and his team in Central London work on mobile applications for Barclays Capital, The Telegraph, O2, Vodafone, News International, Channel 5, PepsiCo, and Panasonic Avionics.

Before he joined MIG he was a Head Teaching Fellow of Computer Science at Harvard University.
