Organiser – Betavine

Betavine

Betavine is the open mobile application community: a place where anyone can come to find and share information and experiences about making applications on any technology platform whatsoever.

While Betavine is a Vodafone project, it is in no way limited in its scope to Vodafone technologies for platforms. We seek to support the whole mobile application community.

Applications are available for all to download with the capability of rating and passing valuable feedback to the developer. This enables the developer to iron out technical glitches and compatibility issues to improve the quality of their apps. Download some apps and feedback your rating.

The Resources section enables developers to explore opportunities with emerging technologies with guides and tutorials for getting started.

The Community section of the site is all about sharing knowledge and experiences. A number of topics are available with information from both industry and Vodafone sources for you to learn more or comment on. Never miss an event or competition again with our events and competition sections. Active competitions and past winners are available for all to see, so take a look and join the community today.

Our Partners section highlights relationships with reputable companies to bring you relevant and topical content. Read their profiles, news summaries and offers here.

The Betavine Team are continually seeking new ways of exploring our “crowdsourcing” platform. We have a very active Open Source [link to open source section] activity and we are now about to trial a new concept – the Betavine Social Exchange. See http://crowdtalk.wordpress.com for details.

In summary, the BSX seeks to bring NGOs with “challenges” together with mobile developers with “solutions”. We believe that developers around the world would be willing to help NGOs in developing countries to find appropriate mobile solutions to support their work.

The website is currently under contruction and is due to start a pilot in South Africa with Vodacom in October. Sign up for the pilot here: http://bsxpilot.eventbrite.com
